Can't delete extra "Healthy (Recovery Partition)"s and "Healthy (EFI System Partition)"
I have two "Healthy (Recovery Partition)"s and a "Healthy (EFI System Partition)" that were not there when I got my laptop and that I cannot delete. I have a Windows 8 laptop (recently updated to 8.1) and about a week ago I decided to dual boot "Ubuntu 13.04". I only gave it a small 18.55GB partition of my hard drive as I wanted to use Windows as my main OS and Ubuntu simply to make and Linux versions of games that I create. I noticed after doing so that it added a "Healthy (Recovery Partition)" to the beginning of the drive (the first one listed).
I could never get it to be added to the Windows boot loader correctly with EasyBCD and I had to keep going to the boot options to pick the GRUB2 and then Ubuntu. I really didn't want to keep doing this and I was having some problems with Ubuntu video drivers as well. I figured that I would just use a different computer for Ubuntu so I took it off of my laptop and formatted the partition it was on. It worked okay but there was still that first "Healthy (Recovery Partition)" that I couldn't delete but I just ignored it.
After updating to Windows 8.1, I thought that maybe the boot loader would work so I tried partitioning and installing Ubuntu again (I know, mistake) but it still didn't work and I could even get it load up correctly. So I finally gave up and have completely decided that I will never dual boot a Linux with Windows again as Linux has too many problems and complications for me. The only way I'm using Linux again is by itself on a computer (I think it's kind of nice to have both, but I'd take Windows over it any day). Anyway, I decided to delete it again.
When I went to delete it, I noticed that there were two more partitions listed that were not there before and I cannot delete them. I wouldn't mind leaving them there too much (as they only take up a small amount of space themselves though if I can I'd like to), but the second "Healthy (Recovery Partition)" is keeping me from increasing my Windows partition to fill up the 18.55GB left from the Ubuntu partition.
I cannot delete them and the only option it gives me is the "Help" option which does not really give me any info on this. All three of the partitions only give me the "Help" option and I cannot delete any of them and it's strange that they are all listed as "100% Free" for space. I'd like to just have the "(C:)" and "(D:)" partitions as drive C: is my Windows partition and D: is my real Recovery "Healthy (OEM Partition)" that was there when I got the laptop.
I'm not really even sure how that second "Healthy (Recovery Partition)" got there because it is in-between the Windows partition and where the "Ubuntu" partition was and it was there before I even formatted that partition. I'll put a screenshot of the "Windows Disk Management" so that you can see what is going on. It also started listing the "Healthy (OEM Partition)" twice, but I think that is because it contains both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 if I am correct. Any advice on how to get rid of those extra partitions would be great.
Install Windows 10 onto re-formatted harddrive
I realize this is a Windows 8.1 forum, but couldn't find anywhere else to post. I've got 64 bit Toshiba that came pre-loaded with 8.1 that I upgraded to Windows 10. I have since cleaned hard drive using DISKPART.
Here's what I have now....
USB stick with downloaded - Win10_1511_English_x64.iso (unzipped)
Disk 0 - Online 465 GB 0 (free) GPT
Disk 1 - Online 14 GB 0 (free) (not GPT)
Volume 1 - C J_CCSA_X64F (Label) NTFS Partition 465 GB Healthy
Disk 0 Partition 1 465 GB 1024 KB (Offset)
When I try to run install from USB stick, I get the following error... "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files."
....And I can't find the Setup log files.
I converted Disk 0 from Mbr to GPT to resolve file type error.
I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Don
Enable System Protection (Restore) on Available Drive - Recovery
In my Windows 8.1 I have listed under System Protection, Available Dives:
- D: (Protection Off - I have used this for a System Backup location which created an WindowsImageBackup folder)
- C: (Protection On)
- Recovery (? This has a yellow folder icon. Protection had been Off but I have changed it to On and set it to 100% Max Usage 14.86 GB. )
I hope somebody will explain in simple terms what the "Recovery" drive represents and whether my setting it to "Protection On with max usage at 100%" is a good idea or not and what the consequences would be if I set it back to Off.

Windows 8.1 File Explorer crashes repeatedly with iPhone movies (MOV) files
Hello
A company uses iPhones to take movies of on-site assessments. They burn these to CD and insert into a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop.
When they hover the mouse over a MOV file, Windows 8.1 File Explorer crashes repeatedly and the computer become unresponsive. If the file is copied to the laptop hard disk the problem is worse with repeated File Explorer crashing and the file cannot be deleted until it is renamed to .TXT
Windows Update KB2975719 causes this problem so I uninstalled it and everything is fine.
Please advise on the status of this issue, when it will be fixed and when the update can safely be re-installed.
MDT 2013 Update 1 Deployment Wizard Pages Not Sizing Properly for High Resolution Tablets
The resolution for the tablet after the OS is installed is fine and set to the correct resolution automatically.
However, the initial setup screens in the MDT Wizard pages are not. I have to manually resize all the dialog boxes on each screen and even after manually sizing using the trackpad, only the edges of the buttons are accessible and the text and radio buttons are almost unreadable. So, I can barely select options or click next to move to the next screen,
Is there a fix for the wizard screens?
Best Practice for Ejecting / Dismounting Storage Space
Storage Spaces - anyone know how to "safely remove" one?
I have three USB external drives pooled together in a single Storage Space, love it. But I can't find out how to unplug the USB plug (or undock my Surface) safely.
If I just remove the USB/undock (as I've been doing so far), it hasn't really failed catastrophically, but it has to do repair quite often - causing terrible performance on the pool but also definitely not good for me to be causing problems. I
don't want to destroy my data.
And one other Storage Pool question: my Surface Pro 3 reads my Storage Pool file in Windows 8.1 (where I created it) and in Windows 10 (dual boot). But I see threads mentioning not being able to access the pool after a clean install. I thought I could plug those 3 drives into any Windows 8.1 PC and access the pool?
