install remotely, allow user to get updates of app not in windows store

Hi

My company is looking to develop an app for Windows RT.  We have a customer base across the US and Canada and regularly update out apps.  We need a way for the customers to be able to install the app remotely not from the store, and also to receive updates, again not through the store.

Our end users are not PC literate, as such it needs to be as simple as possible.  Currently we run on Windows Mobile, our clients download an update to a usb drive, plug it into the device and we have apps that will install it for them and do any needed changes.

We need a similar process, where they can do something as simple as plug in an Ethernet cable, and click a button to receive an update.  Something like the store would work, but we do not want just anyone to be able to download the software and we do not want to go through the approval process for each update as some updates a time sensitive

While I realize Windows 8 Pro would do what we need, there is not enough rugged IP 67 devices out there and those that are tend to be too expensive.  RT solves the problem by lowering the price point so if they do damage a device we can cheaply replace it.

Can anyone help with a simple process so our end users can easily update an app by themselves remotely on Windows RT?

Thanks in advance

Dave
