Hello,
I have a recent HP desktop that used to run under Win 7. I have upgraded to Win 8.1 through a clean install. I have a hdd and a DVD as standard drives plus an eSata bracket that I use on occasion for my NexStar. I have an extra cable connected to another Sata port onto the motherboard. This extra cable is used on occasion for adding a temporary hdd. All this set up was working just fine under Win 7. Since I have upgraded to Win 8.1, I can no longer use my eSata bracket nor my extra Sata cable. However, when I add another hdd using my extra Sata cable, the BIOS sees it but not Win 8.1. Moreover, if I disconnect my DVD and use the connectors for another hdd, Win 8 sees it and makes it available. I have made dozens of searches on Internet without any luck so far. Any idea of what can be wrong?
