I have a laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 8 and I'm going to upgrade to 8.1 through the store in the next couple weeks. The information I have found say that you can pause the download and resume it again later, but What I am trying to find out is: Can I go to the store and download it now and then run the upgrade later when I am offline?
I don't always have internet connectivity all the time. (I don't know how long 3+ gigs take to download, but I am supposed to then sit there while it downloads and and then not disturb the thing while it runs through the upgrade?) Sounds like an all day gig.
I'd like to download it now and then hold off on the actual install until later. Is this possible? Do you need to have internet connection to do the upgrade if you can? Can you upgrade it later like this, then maybe check for updates next time you have an internet connection?
