After updating my Asus laptop to Windows 8.1 I noticed a new drive has appeared in the Tools/Optimization screen, and also in the Disk Management screen. I have tried to attach screenshots but the stupid site won't allow me to because it says I can't attach images until my account is verified, even though I answered the email to verify the account. Before I had the OS, Recovery, and Restore drives showing up, but now there is an additional drive titled ....\\?\Volume that wasn't there before. Also, in Disk Management, somehow I now have 5 partitions when there were only 3 before. I have never created a partition on this machine, so I don't know why 8.1 would add all this in addition to the Recovery and Restore partition that was already there. I updated my wife's Surface to 8.1 RT and she also now has these mysterious new drives with all the \\ and question marks. How can I get rid of this junk? I have always been a supporter of MS, but I don't like it when they take over your machine and do this kind of stuff without permission.
