Here is what I've done...
1. I've duplicated the Windows 8 system partition onto a new solid state hard drive, using Linux.
2. I used bcdedit to add the SSD partition with Windows 8 on it into the boot manager.
3. I booted the new SSD Windows 8 partition and my original Windows 8 is still on C: and the new Windows 8 is on S:
I tried to make C: unavailable and all kinds of bad things started happening, including not being able to get back into Computer Management... I had to recopy the partition again.
So Windows 8 on the SSD IS booting, BUT it's using all kinds of files from the original Windows 8 partition. What I need to do is make Windows 8 (on the SSD) the new C: (obviously when not running Windows 8 from the SSD). I can't figure out how to do this with Windows running or from Linux. Is there a way to do this from the Windows 8 Installation Disk?
If anyone has a better way of moving Windows 8 to a SSD, I'm open to changing my approach, the original partition still exists and is fine.
