My windows 8.1 takes a very long time to load desktop after login. Why?

I have an HP 2000 notebook

This began yesterday.

For some reason, after I log in, the desktop doesn't load immediately like always, instead it gives me a black screen where all I can see Is my cursor, and  that's all, I decide to wait and see if it reacts, and it takes several minuted just to show my desktop/ taskbar/icons etc. This happens every single time I log in after restarting my computer! It's very frustrating.

I think it may have been due to an avast update, because when it first happened, after I waited to see if the black screen would go away, Avast popped up saying it had been updated. I then disabled Avast on startup, but it had no effect.(I will also try uninstalling to see if it helps)

Also, I have quick startup and such unticked on the power button options because otherwise my computer gets bluescreens.

Could it be something completely different? How do I fix it?
