I am attempting to create a USB install media for a new machine which has no optical drive. I have tried using both the Pro and Enterprise versions of 8.1 w/update. The MS article that describes this process, says you can launch the setup from a machine running Windows 7. My machine has Win7 Ultimate, and when I launch setup, it errors out saying "sorry, we are having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows 8. Please close setup and try again"
I thought this was occurring because I was trying to run the setup of a version of Win8.1 which Win7 Ultimate couldnt directly upgrade to...but this happened with both the Ent and Pro versions of Win8.1
Any idea what i'm doing wrong, or how I can resolve this?
