Sysprep Hangs after Windows Updates

Greetings,

I've been working on trying to build and capture a Windows 8.1 in a system center test environment.  I created the capture task sequence media in Configuration Manager 2012 (run from an iso on the reference machine) and every time it runs, the utility seems to get hung up on the Prepare Operating System step.

This only happens after I run any windows updates.  On a scratch build, everything works fine and sysprep finishes in about a minute.  When I try it after the update, the "running sysprep command" status bar just keeps cycling.  I let it run over one weekend and it was still in the same position.

I've disabled automatic app updating, removed any windows store apps, disabled windows defender and firewall, and still the same problem.  Is there anything I may be missing, or am I going to have to slipstream the updates into the scratch image?

Thanks
