HI Im trying to move my data using the windows easy transfer wizard from my 64bit Win7 pro box to a 64bit Win8 enterprise box . Both are set to UK English in every place i can find but the wizard fails saying the languages are different
Im not the only one having this issue (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-performance/windows-7-to-8-easy-transfer-fails-to-transfer/41264a06-d1d5-4db6-b750-c15d36ed30e1) In other threads the below fix has been suggested but i have checked by Win8 box and this key does not exist and i think its only created if you ahve multiple languages installed , which i don't.
Under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI\Settings in Windows 8.
b. There is a value PreferredUILanguages of type REG_MULTI_SZ. Create this value in Windows 7 using the Windows 8 value as a template (make sure the language is actually the same!)
My next port of call is to install a second language and see if this creates the key and then copy that over but ideally a proper fix from MS would be helpful.
