Windows 8 having problem waking up

I have a computer (Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H motherboard with Intel processor) running Windows 8 Professional, 64-bit and with dual-displays (Gateway FHD2402 24" monitors).

I've ran Windows Update, everything is up to date.  I've check the Intel site.  It reports that the display device driver is up to date.

The computer is configured to turn of the display after 20 minutes, and put the computer to sleep after 30 minutes.  When the displays turn off after 20 minutes, the computer wakes up properly.  Even when the computer sleeps for couple hours, it will wake up okay.  The issue is when the computer sleeps overnight.  It will wake up, display the needle page, and the log in page just fine.  It's only after I log in that I have issues.  The screen just doesn't redraw itself properly.  When I close a window, it will still be displayed on the screen.  If I move it, I can get trails.  The task bar at the bottom of the screen doesn't always draw itself correctly.  The start page with the tiles doesn't necessarily draws itself correctly either.  And so on.  Yet, when I do a ctrl-alt-delete, the blue menu page displays fine.

On one hand, it seems like it's an issue with the display adapter.  Yet some things, like the opening page, login page, ctrl-alt-delete pages will be displayed correctly.

Have anyone else encountered such problems? Have any clue as to what the culprit is? Or the solution?

Richard
