KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE while upgrading NVIDIA driver

I wonder if anyone might shed some light on an issue that I have with my PC just now.

PC spec:

  • Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (English)
  • Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard
  • Intel Core i7-3770 3.40 GHz CPU
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
  • Dual monitors (1920 x 1080)
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Creative Sound Blaster ZxR
  • Realtec PCIe GBE Family LAN card (integrated)
  • SteelSeries Sensei mouse
  • Logitech K750 keyboard

This evening I upgraded my NVIDIA driver to the latest 347.09. I selected the clean install option but midway through the installation I got a BSOD with the error code: KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

The PC rebooted, which resulted in just the default Windows graphics card driver working (1024 x 768) and only one monitor.

I ran the installer again... and got the same BSOD but after the reboot I had both monitors working and the NVIDIA driver looked okay.

Both minidump files can be found here, can anyone let me know if these give any indication as to the cause, please?

Much appreciated.
