I have a WD My Book 1TB with two (2) IEEE 1394 connection options and one (1) USB 2.0 connection option.
I have a Dell XPS 420 computer with two (2) IEEE 1394 connection options.
I have a Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller in W8 Device Manager that has the following driver options; "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller" and "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller" (Note; I do not have a driver that ends in "(Legacy)" as indicated in Windows 7 and Firewire problem - Microsoft Home Page | Devices and ....
I can get the WD My Book to connect to the computer through the USB 2.0 port but not the IEEE 1394 ports no matter what driver I choose in W8 Device Manager.
I have tried everything in the referenced threads Windows 7 and Firewire problem - Microsoft Home Page | Devices and ... and Firewire 1394 Compatibility on Windows 7 - Microsoft Home Page ... except revising the *.PNF files to point to C: instead of D:.
Is there anything new on this subject since W8 has been issued?
