I'm writing this note on behalf of my 12 year old daughter
My daugther works with a laptop at her secondary school. The laptops are provided by school. All are origianlly loaded with Windows 7. My daughter bought the Windown 8 upgrade earlier this year. Good value but significant money to my daughter.
Now one after another the Acer laptops break. School decided with the lease company to replace all computers. My daughter got her replacement today. Preinstalled with Windows 7.
I started the upgrade process I was happy to find out that the product code was accepted. Windows 8 installed fine. But now it won't activate. The original laptop will be scrapped. How do I get that license of that broken machine to this replacement machine?
I can't imagine my daughters money it thrown away along with the old machine. But if so how do I uninstall WIndows 8 and get back to the original preloaded Windows 7? All school stuff can run on Linux. But we rather keep the machine in line with (most of) the other kids.
Hope to get this done over the weekend. The Win8 Media Center Pack key does not work either. At first because Windows is not activated. And next probably because it's used before too. But my daughter needs to be able to play DVDs next monday.
Regards,
Michael
