Hey Guys,
Just build a PC for the first time, fairly sure all the hardware's working correctly, because I was able to fully install the Debugged/Checked version of Windows 8 Professional 64Bit on my computer.
NOTE: FOLLOWING IS A BIT OF HISTORY, PROBLEM IS LOWER ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PC Specs:
- Asus H87 Pro MB
- 8 Gb Ram (G Skill Ares)
- i7-4770 CPU
- Asus GTX 670 DC2 4GB
- Fujitsu SSD 128GB.
Firstly installed FireFox no problems. However, I tried to install Avast antivirus, which immediately caused a blue screen near end on installation (I can't remember the exact specifics of when it crashed, but I never had it installed).
I persisted around this, ignoring avast and trying to install some other programs, in particular SW:TOR and League Of Legends because I wanted to test my new system on a couple of games. Particularly had trouble with LOL, even though it installed, I couldn't
see any text in client, and it seemed some of the .NET framework (3.5 which also installs 2.0 + 3.0) the game relies wouldn't be installed (even though it could download the necessary files). There was an error code for this, but I searched it on the new
Computer, and don't have access to it now. I managed to fix this anyhow, by reconnecting my USB Bootable drive where 'd:\sources\sxs\' was located and then using command promp with this command:
dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /Source:X:\sources\sxs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyhow, I reverted to trying to copy system files for these games from my housemate's computer, which is also a Win8 64 Bit, and somewhere in the middle of those transfers, my computer's crashed (I wasn't present in the room when it crashed), and it is stuck
in an endless start up loop.
I can access the Bios fine, no problems there, however if I try to boot up from the (installed) SSD drive, or a new instillation of windows from my bootable usb (I went and got the normal windows 8 Professional version as well from Dreamspark), I will get
a painful blue screen saying
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info and we'll restart for you."
Computer will restart, after the splash screen I'll get the black windows screen with the Windows 8 Logo in the centre, with submessage "Preparing Automatic Repair" before the same blue screen. The circular loading indicator will hit the top (12.00
o'Clock) and the computer will restart again, this time (after splash) to a screen same as before without any text. The restarts just alternate between the two.
I feel like this is more of a hardware issue, however everything was able to be installed prior, so I'm just not sure. It's a real pain in the butt, I was hoping a first computer build would be nicer than this. Anyone have any ideas?
