I'm an IT consultant for a medium sized university with about 600 machines in our instructional computer labs. We use a single image across all labs and use a database of software installers/metadata I organized to install lab-specific software during the imaging process or maintenance windows.
I need a solution for scripting the customization of the start screen so that the custom software in each lab is linked there.
At worst I'll have to use a hack to drop the start screen to desktop at logon and use desktop icons like before; it's still going to be confusing for our users who are used to having the start menu mirror the desktop.
Any workarounds?
