I have a win8 Pro Upgrade version key. This version have Hungarian langauage set.
My current Win7 Home is English. I want to keep my apps, but the cross-language install won't let it.
So can i download a win8 Pro English installer from MS somewhere (if you know dl path pls link it) and use my product key for that so i don't have to reinstall my apps?

I've started this thread because I found lots of references to this in older versions of Windows, but not Windows 8, and their answers are all quite confusing.
On doing a clean install (the advanced option in Setup), the available disk partitions on your PC are displayed. But when you click Next, it falls over with one of several errors, most of which say something like: "Cannot find or create a partition to install to" and use the code 0x80300001
This is a long-standing issue with Windows installers, where essentially they get confused when there are a number of disc drives, or possible places in which disc partitions could be. It seems that it tries to go through them all in sequence, and if the first one it finds is not the one you specified, it will fail. Or something along those lines.
There is another potential cause - which is that the driver you have installed for the only disc drive you have is not compatible. However, before you reach this conclusion, read the whole of 'The FIX' below, because that's what I thought my problem was, but it wasn't.
Anyway - the FIX:
Essentially you have to give Windows Setup no choice whatsoever. Do everything within your power to stop it from having to guess where the install partition is, and give it only the choice of the one you want.
IF you have multiple internal or external drives, physically disconnect all of them.
IF you have done this, or don't think you have any other drives, go in to your BIOS/CMOS setup - at boot look for the text that says e.g. Press F2 for Setup
- Once in your BIOS setup, the job in hand is to find all of the options for where hard disc drives (HDD) can live, and disable all but the one on which your target hard disc lives. In my case, the motherboard has both an IDE interface for Hard Drives and a SATA interface. In the BIOS, all of these interfaces where set to auto-detect. I worked out that my only hard drive was a SATA drive (By watching the diagnostic screen on the BIOS startup), and set both IDE channels to 'DISABLED'
If you are convinced that you have totally given Windows no option but to use the disc you intend, then you may well have the driver issue discussed above.
In this case, you have to go to the website of your PC manufacturer and find the relevant drivers. The disc partition selection screen in Windows 8 Setup has an option for you to change the drivers, so click this, and have the drivers you downloaded on a USB stick so Windows can grab them.

What do i do?
Background: I have been running Windows 7 for about a year and a half. I upgraded to Windows 8 about 4 months ago. From the time of the upgrade to now I have not added any hardware to the machine.
I am not sure what caused the initial fail of Windows 8 but at some point it refused to boot into the login screen but froze with a black screen. I tried a million things to fix but eventually gave up and went nuclear -- wiping my disk clean and going with a fresh install. At this point my steps for wiping clean are:
Drop into command prompt using the setup disk
Run diskpart
Clean
Create Partition Primary
Active
Format FS = NTFS
Assign
After the above, I run let the setup run. It gets through all the steps but on reboot I get the black screen again (before login).
Not only does Windows 8 fail but when I try to follow the same steps for Window 7 I get the exact same behavior.
Help! I'm on week 2 in this state. Have read a million threads and tried a million different variations and cannot get an install going.

im trying to deploy Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. That's why i want to partition and format the disks in WinPE 4.0. I created a WinPe which has the following packages included(installed with dism in that order)
1. de-de\lp.cab
2. WinPE-WMI.cab

4. WinPE-Scripting.cab
5. WinPE-PowerShell3.cab
6. de-de\WinPE-PowerShell3_de-de.cab

Get-Disk or get-partition works fine. But if i want to clear the disk, remove partitions or format a volume it doesn't work. There is no error message indicating that something is wrong. Powershell is working for a short period and then nothing.
If i try to do the same things with diskpart, it works perfectly fine, but i want to do them with powershell. I'm trying that on a Lenovo Twist(3347-29G).

I upgraded to VAMT 3.0 (6.2.9200.0) because it was required to activate a Windows Server 2012 license. I now need to activate a Windows 7 PC on another domain, something I have done routinely with VAMT 2.0. I have tried everything I can think of, but am unable to access any of the computers on my other domain.
Specifics:
I'm in DomainA, running VAMT 3.0 on a Windows 7 Pro PC. To simplify things, I've turned off the firewall on my computer as well as the computer in DomainB.
In VAMT 3.0 I am attempting to use "Update License Status" as I usually do. I specify alternate credentials, and enter DomainB\<AdminAccount> for the domain, and the password. Instantly I get "Access is denied". There are no error codes produced, so I don't have much to go on.
As a test, I was able to go back to VAMT 2.0 and access the other domain just perfectly.
Questions:
1) Where is the log for VAMT 3.0? I'd like to see if that helps any.
2) How does one get VAMT 3.0 to work with computers on another domain? This is really important.

My laptop has got the black screen, i've been reading other posts but they all mention 'when logging in' or something similar suggesting that there's something to actually see. I never get to the point to be able to see anything, as soon as i turn my computer on it loads a black screen with cursor. no login options, no boot options, no nothing.
Re-installing really needs to be the last attempt as i've got loads of web designs, pictures of my 1yr old boy, and alot of programs. i'll be gutted if i lose all that, especially pics of my boy.

My brother tried to install Windows 8 Pro Pack illegally. It's at the point where it now needs to be activated but of course there wasn't an activation code that he found which worked. I don't want to pay for it and I don't even want it on my computer. How can I back out of the installation process and revert back to just Windows 8????

I bought a Lenovo Z585 notebook which came with Windows 8 Single User x64 pre-loaded. I did not receive any install media with the notebook.
I now want to reinstall Windows as I want to set up partitions my own way (rather than having one big 'C:' drive and a 'D:' recovery drive ). I found out my product key using the software 'Belrac Advisor'. Now can I install Windows 8 using a general Windows 8 DVD that I can get from my friends/download off the net? I plan to wipe out all my existing partitions and then re-use the key I already have. Is this possible?

With preview version and after first upgrading to Windows 8 regular version I was able install apps from the Store. Now all installations and updated are giving me an error code 0x80070002.
How do I fix this?
I am on the go with my laptop all the time. Every now and then I check for updates, download and install. Sometimes I can't wait and need to go while the Windows Update is downloading or installing, so I hibernate the system until I next get a chance to resume.
It seems to work with earlier operating systems, but not Windows 8.
This time I had the Windows Update finish downloading but had it hibernate while installing. The Preparing to install... takes forever after I resume. It has happened to me a few times. I had to stop it eventually.
I also wonder if the Windows Update will have to download all the files again next time around when I ask to install.
During the installation process, does it need the Internet connection? If it does, will it say so where the Internet connection is absent?
Since there is a setting of "Install updates automatically (recommended)", I always suppose the system can hibernate during the update because the update would be done in the background which would experience shutdown any time anyway. So it should be able to cope with unexpected interruption during downloading and installation.

In my case, the motherboard has both an IDE interface for Hard Drives and a SATA interface. In the BIOS, all of these interfaces where set to auto-detect. I worked out that my only hard drive was a SATA drive (By watching the diagnostic screen on the BIOS startup), and set both IDE channels to 'DISABLED'
If you are convinced that you have totally given Windows no option but to use the disc you intend, then you may well have the driver issue discussed above.
In this case, you have to go to the website of your PC manufacturer and find the relevant drivers. The disc partition selection screen in Windows 8 Setup has an option for you to change the drivers, so click this, and have the drivers you downloaded on a USB stick so Windows can grab them.

What do i do?
Everything seems to proceed as defined in autounattend, however, during the final "finishing up" a dialog is displayed "windows can not complete installation. run setup again" (wording from memory).
