Windows 8.1 update not working.

I have tried to upgrade from the windows 8 Pro version 6.2.9200 - build 9200 to the new 8.1 update in the windows store. It gives me a error after it installs and says " Couldn't update to Windows 8.1"   "Sorry, we couldn't complete the update to Windows 8.1. We've restored your previous version of Windows to this PC." "0xC1900101 - 0x20017" Then I tried to download the update as the media update via the USB and DVD none have worked. The media installs give me the reason they were failing being the windows key is invalid for this version of windows but my version was bought from your company through the store. It is activated and is up to date with all windows updates. Being the key is good for the windows 8 part and not the upgrade to 8.1. How do I get this update? Better yet, Can I get this update?

    Hi,

In most of the cases,0xC1900101-0×20017 errors signifies issue with any kind of encryption software, Wireless, Bluetooth or card reader software.

Do you have your HDD(boot loader) encrypted with Truecrypt or bitlocker?

I suggest you uninstall these software to check the result.

Then, disable Windows Firewall or other security software before Windows 8.1 update, and then restart your computer. You can enable the firewall after the update is installed.

In addition, if we still fail to install Windows 8.1, please collect following logs and upload here for further research:

    setuperr.log andsetupact.log under C:\Windows\Logs\PBR\PreRollbackLogs\

Please upload them to a file sharing service like Skydrive and put a link to them in your reply.

    Question

I do not have file encryption on, Bit Locker is not enabled on any drive I have. I have Norton security suite and have turned it off permanently and tried to update to 8.1, no luck. I looked for the file you said to post but do not see it in the location you said. The PBR file has no file in it called PreRollbackLogs. The only files I see are as follows:  BCDCopy - pbr.sqml - RjvStateFile.bin - RjvTrace_Configure.etl

I will try tomorrow night after work from the modem instead of through the router to see if it makes a difference. The router has built in NAT firewall so it maybe the firewall the update can't get by.

Zigzag3143 why did you close my thread/question when it was never solved. You lose 25 points for that. Bad MVP, please let me get the problem fixed/solved before you close it. I'm not used to having no good help from a moderator but hey I will try again if I may? The problem is as above. I copied it from the old post so it may look funny.
