At our work, we have received about a dozen or so Dell Inspiron 17r laptops. As part of our standard process, we typically ghost one machine as a backup image and then load Windows 7 Enterprise on these laptops. When the students are done with their 4 years, we return the laptops back to how they were shipped. In this models case, they have been shipped with Windows 8. When we try to Ghost the laptop, it is not playing nicely with UEFI boot. We get blue screens when we turn it to Legacy Boot, and the occasional time we have gotten through, Ghost has failed.
We are currently looking for a solution to this, but have not had any luck yet. If we were to use the built in Windows 8 feature, would that be applicable only for that machine the backup was created on? Is there any other options similar to Ghost that will work with Windows 8?
