This app can't open. There's a problem with . Contact you system administrator about repairing or re-installing it
Hi,
We are trying to install an enterprise application on Windowsx64 bit machine. We successfully installed the signed appx of the application on the device.
But the moment we launch the application we get the following error from the OS:
"This app can't open. There's a problem with <appname>. Contact you system administrator about repairing or re-installing it"
We were able to install the same package on some tablets and Windows8 and Windows 8.1 desktops as well. However on this specific
tablet we are facing this issue of application not getting launched.
System on which the application is not launching has following configuration:
1. Operating System : Windows 8 Pro
2. System Type: 64 bit operating system, x64 based processor. Helix tablet.
The APPX file which we are trying to install is generated by following procedure.
1.From Visual Studio->Store->create app packages
2. Selected Package Type as x64 and then create.
We tested on Windows 8 Pro ThinkPad x86 based architecture and it is working fine.
Can you please let us know what could be the issue?
Thanks,

Thanks
Install error Windows 8.1 0xC1900101-0x20017
Hello,
I'm in charge of the PCs of a medical office, in France (sorry for my English).Computers were under Windows 8 without any problems.I made the migration to Windows 8.1 without bug for all computers except one.
This is a laptop Asus X50VL which was updated from Vista to Seven and then Windows 8 which
works perfectly on it.
I've tried almost 20 times to upgrade to Windows 8.1 after many tests : clean boot, deactivation of many services, uninstallation
of all programs and devices, etc... The procedure for upgrading to Windows 8.1 through the store always gives the same result: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017 error.
I've tried all the solutions described here : Fix 0xC1900101-0×20017 Windows 8.1 Setup Error
I even formatted the hard drive , and made a new installation "clean install" of Windows 8, based on the original DVD (with no problem), without installing third
party software, but still the same result.
I give you access to report files here :

I 've asked the question on answers.microsoft.com, here is the answer I got :
"These are the errors in the log

My suggestion: Repost to TechNet Forum. These are IT techs that will be better able to assist you.

I asked the same question in social.technet.microsoft.com in Frenche here :
I tried the solution proposed :
1. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
http://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/hh824869.aspx
2. Run -> wsreset.exe ->
3. Clean boot
But the installation still fail with same error code.
That's why I turn to you .Hope you find the solution.
Cordially.

Surface Pro 2 PXE Boot - Microsoft Surface Ethernet Driver
I couldn't find the Surface Ethernet Driver in Oct 2013 update. All Drivers are injected manually with WinPE image.
I am using ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 CU3. Win PE image created as outlined on Niall Brady’s blog.
Surface is not received ip address after booting from PXE. Command line support is enabled to investigate this issue. Has anyone found the correct .inf file for Surface Ethernet Adapater. ? Any suggestions or idea?

Windows 8.1 upgrade does not work.
Windows 8.1 upgarde does not work. Got the upgrade from Windows Store and get blue screen of death.
What should I do?
I already try to reboot. Reboots into blue screen.
Tryed using Linux and does not want to boot. I but a new hard drive in and the computer works. I reimaged the drive to a new drive. Still same problem.
I tried to reinstall from backup. Same blue screen.
Is Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade broken?
Is there a way to updated from Windows Updates instead of Windows Store? I think the problem is with Windows Store.
Windows 8.1 Install Fails, 8 Installs fine. (Not the usual CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF problem)
Hi All,
I have 2 machines with this problem now, both 64 bit (one a Pentium D, and one a Core 2 Duo), they both used to run Windows 7 x64, and both now have clean installed Windows 8 x86 on them (because I didnt install x64 as this a) didnt boot the installers) and b) wouldnt run as these both seem to not have one of the CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF instructions.
I'm happy with them running x86 but would like them to be running windows 8.1..
Now I'm an MSDN subscriber, so I have downloaded and tried to boot the x86 versions of 8.1 (all editions), and all of them abort during boot at the blue flag with a "sorry your pc has had a problem and needed to restart"
I then thought I could install 8 and upgrade it in place using the store, so I installed 8 pro, and downloaded the update, which reboots the PC (happens same on both), and then crashes during boot at the same point.
I understand that the x86 version doesnt need the extra CPU instructions.. so why doesnt it work?
Any ideas?
Thanks, Sam

Can't setup ADK. Keeps asking for toolkit documentation-x86_en-us
When i try to download ADK 8.0 or ADK 8.1 for 2012 R2 I keep getting a message "Setup cannot locate Toolkit Documentation-x86_en-us.msi "
Has anyone experienced this and found a work around?
Thanks,

The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported
Hi guys,
we created a custom WIM Image (Windows 8 Enterprise) with MDT 2012.
Sysprept the Image, Deployed via SCCM 2012 SP1.
Computers are Domainjoined. Error with standard Domain User.
On some computers (not every computer) and not with every user on the first logon following error message arises:
The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported
It works, when you log in a second time but this error isn't very nice.
Is there a solution for that?
Kind Regards
Martin

Black Screen Windows 8
Got a new laptop with Windows 8 and was exploring. I think I went into settings and dialed down the brightness setting. My screen went black and I can't do anything. No shortcut keys, no mouse, no cursor, no Task Manager, nothing.
It's a brand new Lenovo Yoga 2. Please help. So far, this is NOT my favorite OS. It's not business user friendly and I have 30+ years in the field.
Problem With Windows 8 Store
Fresh installation of Windows 8
Applied all patches (70 or 80)
Created user account Member of Super Users
Clicked on Windows Store Tile
Said there were a load of app updates
Selected all of them and said to install
One or two installed then three stopped saying they couldn't install. Three were still installing and the rest were pending.
Waited a long time and nothing progressed. Green bars in the same place. Right clicked on each one and selected stop installation. All of them stopped except for one which didn't show the bottom bar when it was right clicked on.
Closing the store (dragging top all the way down) and opening it again showed the same app installing (but it wasn't).
Signed out and restarted machine.
Go into store and nothing is shown as needing an update.
Computer is hardwired to router which is connected to a cable modem.
Is there someway to recheck for app updates?

Sysprep Failure Unable to Validate Windows Installation (Bitlocker)
First post, so feel free to let me know if I'm doing it wrong...
I'm trying to run sysprep with an Windows 8.1 pro image (fresh install of 8.1,not an upgrade from 8.0) and keep running into the following error...
The log below seems to indicate that it thinks that bitlocker is enabled, which it isn't. I guess the first question is whether or not I'm wrong in my interpretation, and the second is has anyone seen anything like this?
Much Thanks -
Mike

Windows 8.1 PRO Deployment Start menu customisation
Hi,
I am trying to customise my Windows 8.1 Pro deployment start menu, I just want to remove a pile of the default apps and items for users when they login, then they can customise it for themselves.
I know this can be done with enterprise but has anyone worked out a way to do it with PRO ??
